New high-speed railway to bring greater convenience to the Delta

The project of the North Riverside High-speed Railway has seen significant progress as the National Development and Reform Commission officially replied to the research report on the feasibility of building a high-speed railway linking Shanghai, Nanjing and Hefei along the Yangtze River.

North Riverside High-speed Railway

The North Riverside High-speed Railway is an important component of the “eight horizontal and eight vertical” railway network depicted in the country’s medium and long-term rail development plan. Its operation will shorten the ride between mid-south Jiangsu and Shanghai to one hour.

According to the construction plan, the railway passes by Suzhou at Taicang Station, which is also a stop of the South Riverside Intercity Railway, or Southern Jiangsu Riverside High-speed Railway.

SRT Line 8

The tunnel between Changjialu Station and Shijiaqiao Station is now under excavation. SRT Line 8 stretches 35.5 kilometers and runs between Xijiqiao Station and Chefang Station. It will start trial operation in September, 2024.

Jiangling Bridge South Side Road Bridge
