In the next two years, Suzhou will build two large-scale snow parks, where winter sports fans can hit the slopes 365 days a year.
Indoor Snow World
The construction of the indoor snow world project kicked off on June 18 and is scheduled to finish in two years.
Located on the border between Taihu Science City and Suzhou Science and Technology Town in SND, the snow world is adjacent to Nanjing University Suzhou Campus and covers an area of 38,600 square meters with a total floor area of 146,200 square meters.
Upon completion, it will not only have ski runs with different ratings and all manner of skiing and skating activities, but also provide high-end suites, restaurants with both domestic and foreign dishes, banquet halls, gyms, hydrotherapy spas, yoga rooms and indoor pools.
Foliday Town Taicang Alps Resort
With a total floor area of 1.3 million square meters, Foliday Town Taicang Alps Resort will revolve around five key elements unique to the Alps — snow mountain, lake, valley, forest and village, consist of three themed areas — Alps snow world, sports park and commercial street, and introduce Club Med Joyview Resort, Casa Cook Hotel and Alps international community.
Alps snow world, whose main structure was recently topped off, involves a total investment of RMB2 billion yuan. Covering an area of 54,000 square meters, it is the first indoor ski area in China that uses the snow making equipment of WYSS.
Five ski slopes will be set up, including a 280-meter-long one-way run and a special piste for snowboarding lovers. Additionally, there are up to 22 ski activities, a ski school, a playground for children and an ice maze to combine skiing, sightseeing and adventure together.
The first phase, including the snow world, the commercial street and Club Med Joyview Resort, is scheduled to go into operation in October 2023.
