Jiang Jianhua Erhu Recital

Thanks to Jiang Jianhua, erhu in foreigners’ eyes no longer is a Chinese instrument unheard-of before. Tunes from around the world can be played by it. The performance will feature erhu, Chinese lute and piano.

Drifting Clouds & Flowing Water Zhang Weiliang  Di.Xiao.Xun Recital

Dubbed “divine player of flute and xiao,” Zhang Weiliang will lead the audience to the world of traditional Chinese music with four traditional instruments and piano.

My Name is Dingxiang

Ding Xiang was abandoned by her parents as a baby in 1910 and then adopted by Nanny Wu. As she grew up, she witnessed many scenes of misery as a result of poverty and oppression. Trying to find a solution to social oppression, Ding Xiang went to Soochow University and met her future husband Yuhong Le. They joined the Chinese Communist Party and began taking part in clandestine activities. Soon after their marriage, Ding Xiang was arrested and was then executed at Yu Hua Tai, leaving Le with endless grief.

Co-organized by Suzhou Silk Museum, Nanjing Museum Administration (Jiangning Imperial Silk Manufacturing Museum), and Shanghai Film Museum, the exhibition shows the diverse aesthetics of A Dream of Red Mansions, and expresses the vitality and creativity of the classic in various fields.

The 5th Suzhou Folk Art (Folk Handicraft) Creation Recommended Work Exhibition

Slumbering Stones at a Quiet Pond Exhibition Marking the 95th Anniversary of Mr. Mu Xin’s Birth

Time: September 6 to November 27
Venue: Suzhou Museum

An array of up to 70 pieces of Mu Xin’s paintings, calligraphy and manuscripts will be on show. Among them, color ink on paper and lithograph are an agglomeration of his artistic style in latter period.
