Suzhou sees 11 of global top 20 medtech companies invest in city

According to Medtech’s 100 Largest Players in 2022 by Medical Design & Outsourcing, the TOP 20 have set up a total of 11 offices in Suzhou.

Olympus Medical Suzhou Co., Ltd.

With a total investment of some $60 million in the initial stage, the company is the group’s first manufacturing and R&D base for medical devices in China as well as its first production base for core products outside Japan.

Johnson & Johnson Medical (Suzhou) Ltd.

Founded in 2006, it is the biggest comprehensive industrial park of Johnson & Johnson Medical Companies in China as well as an important component of its global supply chains. In January, 2020, Johnson & Johnson Medical (Suzhou) Ltd was added into Global Lighthouse Network of World Economic Forum, becoming Johnson & Johnson’s first lighthouse factory in China.

Signia Hearing Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Affiliated to the Sivantos Group and established in 1995, the company has become the most important production base of WSA Group, providing 24-hour customized machine production services to multiple countries such as China, the United States, and Japan. Its products meet the product quality criteria of developed countries such as Europe, the United States, and Japan.

Philips Healthcare (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Established in November 2009, the company is mainly engaged in the R&D and production of mainstream imaging systems that meet the needs of the Chinese and global markets. It has become a leading force in imaging healthcare products in China and the world, and is currently the only comprehensive imaging product base of Philips worldwide.

Stryker (Suzhou) Medical Technology Co., Ltd.

The company, founded in 2008, is the first manufacturing plant invested by Stryker Group in Asia. Its products and services covers orthopedic, medical and surgical equipment and neurosurgery and spine products

Baxter Healthcare (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Established in 1995, Baxter Healthcare (Suzhou) Co., Ltd is Baxter’s first wholly foreign-owned plant in China. It mainly produces peritoneal dialysis bags. Some of the products are exported to countries such as India, Thailand, Australia, and the Philippines.

Boston Scientific Animal Experiment Training Center

Co-established by Boston Scientific and Suzhou Frankenman Medical Equipment Co., Ltd in 2021, it is the first modern platform for animal experiment training, which offers one-stop service to clinical surgical training and medical device innovation.

Suzhou BD Medical Devices Co., Ltd.

Founded in 1996 and with a total investment of $25 million, the company has an area of 20,000 square meters, including 10,000 square meters for plants. It boasts 2,200 square meters of Class 100,000 cleanrooms, and has met a number of international quality standards, allowing the company to enter European market.

B.Braun Medical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Headquartered in Germany, B. Braun is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies. Its Suzhou office was established in SIP in 2004, and mainly produces clinical nutrient solutions, plasma substitutes, infusion products, and surgical instruments, among others.

Alcon Kunshan

Alcon is the largest eye care device company in the world, with complementary businesses in surgical and vision care. It set up a branch in Kunshan, Suzhou in 2021 to manage and sell eye care products.

Fujifilm Healthcare Manufacturing (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.

Founded in SIP in 2002, it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujifilm Healthcare Manufacturing Corporation and is principally engaged in producing X-ray diagnosis devices, ultrasonic diagnosis equipment, MRI systems, bone densitometers, CT image diagnostic devices and other image diagnosis devices.
